The AME  course is run by Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India through approved Institutes. Mere completion of the AME course will not fetch the students any Licence or Degree/Diploma. Only, those who succesfully complete AME Licence examinations conducted by DGCA, will be eligible for appropriate AME Licence. The syllabus of the course is revised by the DGCA from to time to time to maintain international training standards.

VIA is providing training to the students in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) for obtaining Basic AME license in Mechanical stream (Aeroplane and Powerplants), comprising of  Light Aeroplanes (LA), Heavy Aeroplanes (HA),Piston Engine (PE)and Jet Engine (JE).

The course for Aircraft Maintence Engineering is designed to give the students a comprehensive knowledge of  aircraft and its systems and good maintence practice to enable them to become skilled and competent maintence professionals.

The essential instruction are:

 1.Imparting theoretical and practical knowledge to enable the students to pass the AME license examination issued by DGCA.

2.  Knowledge of Aircraft Manual (India), Civil Aviation Requirements, Airworthiness Advisory Circulars etc.

3.Theoretical, practical and technical knowledge of design, construction, maintenance and operation of aircraft engine systems and the usage of aircraft materials in construction of  airframe, engine and accessories.

4. Knowledge of engineering practices and skill in use of various equipments, as well as general and special tool used in aircraft maintence.

5.Knowledge of good maintence practices, human factors and human performance, necessary judgment and competence required to assess the airworthiness of aircraft and its equipment. 



The duration of the training is 3 years divided into six semesters of 6 months each. The first 5 semesters shall contain both theoretical and practical classes in equal proportion within the institute. The last semester shall be exclusively On-Job-Training (OJT). The course shall commence from July every year, and the admission will be completed by 31st July. Class working hours are from 09:00 to 16:00 hrs with a lunch break of 45 minutes.


On-Job-Training (OJT), conducted in a DGCA approved Aircraft Maintenance/Manufacturing organization or Airlines, carrying out maintenance of aircraft, engine etc. As on date, the students of this Institute is sponsored by  Taneja Aerospace And Aviation Limited, Hosur, Tamilnadu.
